Scania Engineer and Tech Program 2021 ENG

We are looking for people who want to work with the latest technical innovations and, at the same time, help to create a more sustainable world. At Scania we call this Driving the Shift. This means that we take a leading role in developing climate-smart solutions by creating sustainable, environmentally friendly products, including, for example, our electrification initiative and our development of existing technologies to set new standards for emissions and efficiency. We are on an exciting journey towards the introduction of a more sustainable transport system and we want you to join us! In order to genuinely Drive the Shift, we have now intensified our sustainability activities and put in place clearly defined climate targets to fulfil our commitments under the Paris agreement.

We are looking for people who want to grow and develop either within their own area of expertise or perhaps outside it. At Scania we have just as many opportunities for personal and professional development as we do different truck models. You can choose for yourself whether you want to leave your comfort zone or to learn more about an area that you love. It is important that you are passionate about technology, enjoy solving problems and want to use your expertise to develop sustainable solutions and to make logistics and production workflows more efficient.

Who are we looking for?
We know that success in a team depends on the people in it. We value different perspectives. We believe that they contribute to better decision-making and help us as individuals to grow and develop. You take a purposeful approach and always have several projects on the go. You do not only want to follow well-trodden paths; sometimes you prefer to go your own way. If this is you, then we want to get to know you, because we believe that you will flourish in our community where everyone enjoys a lot of individual freedom. The Scania Engineer & Tech Programme is an introductory programme aimed at newly graduated engineers with bachelor's or master's degrees and a maximum of one year's work experience after graduating.

If you have a foreign degree you need to get your qualifications evaluated, apply through Please note that the processing time might be long.

What can we offer?
If you are interested in engineering and technology, our programme is a unique way of kick-starting your career. It is designed to give you wide-ranging experience and an extensive network of contacts that will help you to succeed in your career with us. Skills development is a natural part of the corporate culture at Scania and we also offer plenty of opportunities for personal development. The programme has two different specialisations: Engineering and Tech. You can choose the specialisation you are most interested in:

  • Engineering – Scania's production system (SPS) forms the basis for everything we do and represents Scania's values, principles and priorities. SPS helps us to improve our quality, ergonomics and productivity and results in a more sustainable production process. After the programme, you will start working in one of our engineering or logistics functions.
  • Tech – Innovation is what characterize our research and development. We are software & data driven and make sustainable solutions happen with a minimal climate impact in areas such as electrification, connectivity and autonomous vehicles.  After the program, you will start working in one of our systems or software development functions within technologies such as IoT, AI and embedded systems.

About the programme
The programme lasts for ten months and during that time you will do at least three rotations in different areas. To give you the best possible start, the programme begins with a joint introduction phase. You will have plenty of opportunities to influence your own individual development. Together with your manager and mentor, you will choose the rotations that will give you the experience and knowledge to help you to achieve your personal goals. At the same time, you will gain a good overview of the business and an insight into how Driving the Shift involves different parts of the company. You will attend several training courses and take part in workshops that will benefit your future career. Our managers will treat you as an individual and give you feedback that will challenge you and help you to grow. You will also have the opportunity to meet members of the management team and attend their presentations about the technologies of the future and our strategy for achieving our demanding sustainability targets.

You will be employed from your first day with us and we will pay you a market salary. We offer a pleasant work environment with a good work/life balance. Everyone who works at Scania appreciates the security, development opportunities and open climate that the company provides. We care about one another and we always work together to solve problems in the best possible way.  We see you as an important future player in our efforts to achieve our goals. After the programme has finished, you will join one of our engineering, logistics or development functions as an engineer, where you will be expected to contribute to Driving the Shift!
